Atlantico Madrid is a professional Spanish football club playing in La Liga. It was initially founded as a branch of Athletic Bilbao Football Club (Athletic Bilbao) in 1903. The team was wearing a blue and white jersey at the very beginning and later changed to the red and white vertical bar shirt, dark blue shorts in 1911. Due to its team strips, it was nicknamed Los Colchoneros (means “the mattress makers" in English) because the strips are the same colors as old-fashioned mattresses.
